Lisa’s story from default to design
I have many challenging stories that played a role in how I got here. Like being in serious debt, my food addiction, emotionally challenging relationships, distorted body image, obsessive thinking, travel-escapism lifestyle, isolation and paralysis!
But what I really want to share is the thread that connects all these different stories together, and how it helped me create the life I always wanted.
That thread is my thoughts.
I grew up, like the rest of us, learning and absorbing from the world around me. Subconsciously my brain shaped beliefs about myself that became my default programming and at the time, I had no idea just how powerful that default was. For many years it would run my life and trap me into thinking I wasn’t good enough to be successful, to find love, and to be happy.
My very worst default thought was thinking I might not be able to change.
But there must have been a little light of hope inside me during that time. However faint it was, somewhere I could hear it saying, “don’t give up Lisa.”
My awakening to this truth came the day I decided to see a therapist. I remember sitting there holding the phone, battling the voices in my head telling me, “Lisa, you’re fine, you’re not the kind of person that needs to go talk to someone”. But then I heard myself ask, “What if you could be wrong?”
I burst into tears as I realized in that moment that there could be another way – a way out!
This newfound understanding of how I was thinking got me excited to go even deeper into the study of the brain and its relationship with thought; most importantly, I learned to actually reframe my thoughts so they align with my dreams. I was determined to crack the code.
I found two life-changing resources:
The 11 Forgotten Laws & Biodynamic Breathwork
In The 11 Forgotten Laws, the first law is The Law of Thinking. This law reinforced that my thoughts created the reality around me. If I wanted to change my life, I would have to change my thoughts!
And, Biodynamic Breathwork was the deepest connection to myself I had experienced. I learned to surrender and let the science behind the breath release stored trauma on a cellular level. This experience was so profound that I went on to become a certified practitioner in 2007. This landed me in Pune, India assisting my teachers at the Osho Ashram, followed by offering this work at workshops and retreats internationally.
Fast forward to today.
I run a thriving business supporting amazingly talented people in becoming the conscious creator of their lives through business, lifestyle, health and mindset creation. I work either from my Greenwich Village studio that I’ve owned for 25 years now or in my home away from home beach house in Mexico where I also lead manifesting retreats. My financial debt is long behind me, and I have created a savings account and a retirement fund that is growing monthly.
I am most proud of having traveled to 45 countries thus far and continue to travel to experience life (no longer to escape it!). I meditate regularly to continue to master my thoughts and reframe them as needed. My social life is fun and active and I go out when I want to and I have also learned to honor my Lisa time at home guilt free. My relationship with food and my body is a healthy one and I continue to love and accept myself exactly as I am today. In addition to travel and meditation, I enjoy house music, working out, mixed media painting, creative collaborations, weekly massages, yoga, fine dining, taking photos of graffiti and loving every dog I meet! The Science of Change™ is now the cornerstone of my work and it is my pleasure and passion to share it with you.
